Romeo and Juliet act 1

In act one I understood most of it but I was confused as well. I didn’t really understand how Romeo complained and he was depressed over Rosaline for most of act one. Then right when he sees Juliet he automatically falls in love with her. I think Romeo loves Juliet, but I don’t think he ever loved Rosaline. As soon as he sees Juliet he completely forgets about her. I think Romeo does fall in love with Juliet towards the end of the book. But right now she is just a girl that he wants to love and eventually he will. The wordplay was very interesting, but with out the side comments to explain everything, I think I would have a really hard time understanding what is exactly going on. I don’t really understand how everyone always wants to fight. Everyone hates everyone; it’s not common today. Overall I like the play. I think it is well thought out. The characters are well written and each role is important. I already know how it ends, but I don’t know what happens in the middle. But I will soon find out. Romeo and Juliet is a good play for every high school to study.
